Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding your pay and deductions can be confusing, so this area has been created to summarise answers to our Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I opt out of the Teachers' Pension Scheme?

If you are considering or would like to proceed to opt out of the Teachers' Pension Scheme, then you are strongly advised to complete the online Opt Out Form available from within your Teachers' Pension Scheme account.

To find out more information and access the online Opt Out form, please go to https://www.teacherspensions.co.uk/members/resources/forms/joining-or-leaving-the-scheme.aspx

If you would prefer to complete the downloadable version of the Opt Out form, then please click here to download a copy. Please note - you will need to complete Part A of the form, and then email the form to payroll@whitmore.harrow.sch.uk for us to complete Part B on your behalf. We will then send it to the Teachers' Pension Scheme team.

Once you have opted out, either by using the online form or by using the downloadable alternative, you will need to check your Teachers' Pension Scheme account to ensure your decision to opt out has been recorded, and that your account clearly shows you have been opted out.

Please keep a close eye on your payslips for confirmation of your opt out (i.e. you will no longer see the TPS deductions listed) as confirmation that this has taken effect per your instruction.

How do I opt out of the Local Government Pension Scheme?
