Whitmore takes the Bronze at Boccia
On the eve of the Paralympics in Beijing, Whitmore's very own Boccia team took bronze for the borough of Harrow in the all-London Boccia final.
Whitmore’s Boccia Team is made up of the following committed and enthusiastic competitors: Hashim Ahmad-Minhas 9SVA; Jozef Koval 9GPR; Zainab Cham 9BCG; Joshua D’Costa 9OEC and Tejpreet Kaur 10ACA.
The stakes were high for the day- Team Whitmore was representing the borough of Harrow, not just the school, and a place in the national championships was up for grabs. All of Team Whitmore are talented and experienced Boccia players, having represented their forms and years groups at in school competitions many a time. However, after two years without external competitions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the day, which involved multiple rounds against different schools, demanded new skills from the team. The day was packed which required Team Whitmore to show resilience and determination, and the fact that at each round they faced unknown competitors meant they had to adapt their team tactics.
It is an amazing achievement that Team Whitmore achieved third place overall, especially considering the strong competition from schools across London. Not only is this evidence of Whitmore’s home-grown boccia talent, but the students’ fantastic teamwork.
Team Whitmore have said that they look forward to more competitions and success in the future!
