Celebrating Culture Day

Celebrating Culture Day

In celebrating Culture Day this year, we had the opportunity to show pride in our own backgrounds, learn more about our peers and their cultures, and explore the contributions of many in shaping our society today. In preparation for the day, students across the school contributed to a display on the variety of cultures and were encouraged to create posters and artwork to celebrate their background, able to creatively inform others and celebrate their backgrounds. This year was themed around celebrating Windrush 75, marking 75 years since the HMS Windrush arrived in Britain, becoming a symbol of the generation of Caribbean immigrants and their contributions to British culture. The day itself included students wearing cultural clothing or colours and flags that celebrated their heritage and learning about culture and traditions of friends and peers around the school. Students also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in new cultures with a variety of foods in the canteen, henna stalls, quizzes, games and more!

Thank you to all our staff and students who made Culture Day a memorable event.CD1
