Year 7 and 8 Girls Shine at Borough Athletics Competition
The Year 7 and 8 Girls’ Athletics Squad (with three team members unfortunately having to leave before the photo was taken) travelled to Bannister Outdoor Sports Centre on Thursday 21st May to compete against schools from across the borough.
Both age groups delivered some outstanding performances throughout the evening. In Year 7, Whitmore achieved a clean sweep in the throwing events. Zaira secured first place in both the shot putt (6.84m) and discus (16m), while Billie impressed with a dominant win in the javelin (34.4m). All three victories were achieved by considerable margins. Billie also added to her success with a third-place finish in the 200m and Aliza claimed third in the 1500m.
The Year 8 athletes also produced excellent results. Saraiya (100m), Svetlana (shot putt and javelin) and Eloise (high jump) all achieved second-place finishes. Third-place places went to Eva-Rose (1500m) and Lena (discus).
The evening concluded in style with a fantastic performance from the Year 8 4x100m relay team - Eva-Rose, Marlie-Joy, Saraiya and Lena who won their race by an impressive two-second margin.
Well done to all of the girls for representing the school with such dedication and pride.
