Showcasing Excellence: 2026 Whitmore Art Exhibition

The 2026 Art Exhibition was showcased in the Main Hall during the final week of the summer term. The exhibition featured an impressive collection of GCSE coursework and examination pieces created by Year 11 students over the past three years in Fine Art, Ceramics and Sculpture. Students working in Fine Art explored themes of self-portraiture and identity, alongside natural forms and still life, drawing inspiration from Surrealism and other artistic movements. Ceramics and Sculpture students produced a diverse range of work based on natural abstract forms and expressive clay heads that reflected their personal interests and creative ideas. As part of their GCSE examinations, students responded to a variety of themes set by the exam board, including Lost and Found, Time, Isolation, Movement and Interiors. Each student developed a unique and personal interpretation of their chosen theme, demonstrating creativity, technical skill and individual expression. The exhibition was open to staff, Year 11 students and their families, who were invited to attend a private viewing on the evening of Friday 10 July 2026. Visitors were encouraged to leave comments in the exhibition book, with many praising the outstanding quality of the work on display. Comments included: "Whitmore has some exceptionally talented students. The artwork was of a professional standard, with an excellent range of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces showcased throughout the exhibition. "The exhibition was a wonderful celebration of the students' hard work, dedication and artistic achievements, and provided an inspiring conclusion to their GCSE Art journey.
