Year 11 Pathways to Success Event

Year 11 pathway to success 1At Whitmore, we take the future choices of our students very seriously. October normally marks the Year 11 pathway to success 2start of the Post 16 decision making process, with the ‘Post 16 Information Evening’. As with many events in the current climate, we are pleased to announce that we have been able to offer a successful alternative approach, where parents/students have been thoroughly informed about the application process and the options that students have after their GCSEs.

At the start of the week beginning Monday 12th October, Year 11 parents were directed to the school website to watch a presentation given by Ms Hammond, Mr Topley and Ms Aguda about Sixth Form pathways. This included reflections from current 6th form students about their experiences of further study at Whitmore. Important information concerning different academic, vocational and occupational choices is also available as well as specific links to the courses on offer at Whitmore. This information includes important entry requirements for each post 16 course. Year 11 pathway to success 3On Wednesday the 14th and Friday the 16th of October, Year 11 students were able to visit subject based stalls set out in the main hall for all of our Outstanding A Level and BTEC subjects that we offer at Whitmore, as well as a stall dedicated to Careers. Students entered the main hall at staggered times to maintain our social distancing guidelines and were able to speak directly (and at a distance) to our very helpful Year 13 students and teaching staff from each subject. The Year 11 students responded positively to this ‘personal’ experience where they were able to ask specific questions which hopefully will guide them to make informed decisions about their Year 11 pathway to success 4future choice of academic study.
