University Fair
On Monday 27th February our school opened its doors to Year 12 students from across the borough and welcomed them to our University Fair.
Nearly thirty universities travelled here to talk to students and give advice and guidance on the next stage in their education and future career. Students from 17 different schools attended and with approximately 700 students passing through the fair. They had the opportunity of attending talks on Student Finance, STEM Careers, Applications to Medicine, Oxbridge Applications, Degree Apprenticeships, Applying to Competitive Applications as well as a talk on Why go to university and the UCAS process.
Mr Gareth Thomas, MP, supported the school in organising and promoting the event and also attended the fair and we are very grateful for his participation.
The feedback from the Universities that attended was overwhelmingly positive and they were impressed by the quality of the questions our students asked. Some of their comments are below:
‘I really enjoyed talking to the students, so many of the students were so enthusiastic’
‘The students were very active in their conversations and the attendance at the two applying to medicine talks was great.’
‘We had some really good questions from students who were confident in approaching the stand.’
‘It was a pleasure to visit your school again and speak with the students!’
Thank you to Gareth Thomas MP and all the universities for supporting our school and students. We look forward to welcoming you back next year!
