Sporting Success for Whitmore Students
Netball Tournament
The first opportunity that the Under 16 netball team was at the Harrow Borough tournament. After torrential downpours in the days leading up to the tournament it was a matter of fingers crossed for the organisers! The team led by Marley McDonald played a good standard of netball winning matches against Nower Hill and Bentley Wood. The ‘round robin’ nature of the tournament meant that the team placed 3rd in the tournament overall. Well done to Marley, Anaya, Davinia, Emily, Cariad, Mya. A special mention to Elizabeth who played up an age group but slotted into the team with ease.
The Year 10 Netball team competed against schools from Bentley Wood, Pinner High, Sacred Heart, Hatch End, Nower Hill and Park High. We once again came 3rd in the competition. Well done to both teams!
Volleyball Tournament
The under 16 volleyball squad played in a tournament at Salvatorian College. The students played well as a team and demonstrated growth in confidence in the matches they played. Well done to Simonas, Ehsan, Abinash, Amila, Bhargava, Neil, Kavish and Suhaan.
Football Tournament
Year 7 students participated in their first secondary school football tournament of the year. Torrential rain wasn’t enough to dampen the spirit of the team! Two difficult opening games meant Whitmore had a mountain to climb, but a comprehensive win in the final fixture meant that the team finished third in their group. All students played their best football and we are all looking forward to the next competition on home soil!
The player of the tournament was Saanvi. Congratulations on his performance.
