Work Related Learningâ Year 10 Interview Experience 2025
We were delighted to welcome representatives from local industries, universities and other major organisations to give mock interviews to our Year 10 students. Around 30 professionals volunteered to support this event from a wide range of employers, including the BBC, Rider Levett Bucknall, GTEK Ltd, Wates, Mace, Capgemini, KPMG, Colas Rail, Equans, OuterCircle, Border Force, Greyline Construction, University of Portsmouth, University of Nottingham, Durham University, Brent Youth Futures, Stanmore College, John Lyon School and Hatch End High. It was particularly pleasing to welcome back a number of our ex-students.
The aim of the event is to give students an opportunity to experience a formal work related, professional interview. This is designed to boost their confidence and help them with their preparation for employment and higher education interviews. Each student had prepared a CV using our online careers platform - Unifrog (www.unifrog.org) - and they were given advice on how to improve the content and its presentation.
We were also able to offer interviews to a number of Year 12 students; they were given advice on their post-18 options and how to make successful applications for university and degree apprenticeships.
The students were asked what they had learnt from the experience which would help them with future interviews. They responded with a wide range of answers:
“The Year 10 work experience interview was by far the best experience I have had in all of Year 10. It was a very relaxed and chilled environment and I felt no pressure at all. I had an amazing interviewer and I was able to relate to her really easily. It was really fun and I got amazing tips on how to improve my CV and how to present myself in an actual interview. I had a great time thanks to the careers team, the interviewer and of course my Head of Year, Mrs. Saunders.” Sharvi, 10AGH
“The experience was very helpful and the interviewer helped me improve areas where I was not confident in. Overall the interview was positive.” Vanshi, 10JXV
“I learnt so much about what an employer expects and how to better sell myself with confidence. Also the importance of communicating clearly so that I can showcase my qualities with confidence.” Harjot, 10ACS
