Rebecca Addlington presented their awards at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 22nd May, after the students met and spoke with Prince Michael of Kent. Ms Prest, our extra-curricular co-ordinator and DofE manager and Ms Durham, AHT were in attendance and were very proud to see the students being rewarded for their incredible efforts over the last 2 years. These students make Whitmore history as the first ever Gold group to complete their expeditions and awards through the school. After a year’s planning and preparation the students had to endure two incredibly difficult trekking trips in the mountains in order to complete their expeditions independently. These involved hiking, navigating and camping over the mountains for 4 days (the use of technology is strictly prohibited)! Students also had to volunteer, learn a new skill and be physically active for a minimum of an hour per week, showing huge commitment over the two years. Well done to every one of you!
(* These students had exams so will receive their Award in the autumn presentations.)
