The Library goes mobile!

Early in September we decided to trial a mobile library within the school, reaching out to those students, who are less likely to visit the library regularly, effectively bringing the books to them.

Each week during Pastoral time, we’ve been targeting two new classes, laden with a trolley or two of suitable books. Students may browse and borrow the books, as if they had visited the library.

Although a novel idea to begin with, the mobile library has proved very popular with students, to showcase our wonderful reading resources. It gives us a further opportunity to engage first-hand with students and opens discussions about books they enjoy reading.

Since the start of term, the Library has expanded its collection with over 46 exciting new titles, adding to an already impressive stock of nearly 20,000 physical books. Among these new arrivals are some fantastic additions to the Library’s University Recommended Reads section, including Nothing but The Truth: The Memoir of an Unlikely Lawyer and The Stories of the Law and How It’s Broken from the popular Secret Barrister series.

In addition, we’ve added a selection of titles focused on mental health and well-being, such as Be Calm, Be Happy, and Be Kind from the Teen Breath series. Our Non-Fiction section also benefits from new titles in history, including The First World War, The Second World War, and The Six Wives of Henry VIII from the Adventures in Time series.

For our budding scientists, we’ve expanded the Science section with exciting new titles like Facts at Your Fingertips and Earth from the Amazing Science series.

But that’s not all! We continue to showcase the works of our beloved authors. Fans of Rick Riordan will be thrilled with the addition of The Titan’s Curse (Book 3) from his Percy Jackson series, while Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End is sure to delight his many fans.

Throughout the school year, the Library will keep adding to and refining its collection, ensuring students have access to a diverse, vibrant, and up-to-date selection of books. Happy reading!
